Postal charges.
Prices quoted in the catalogues exclude postage. The cost of packing and postage for an average sized book weighing less than 1kg when wrapped will be £3.00 within Great Britain by second class mail. This rate will be reduced for very light items, but there is a minimum P&P charge of £1.50.
For very large or heavy items the postal rate depends on whether first class or parcel post is more appropriate. We are happy to combine postage on more than one item.
For Australia and New Zealand please be aware that surface parcels can take up to 13 weeks to arrive and we do not recommend surface mail for these destinations. Even for the USA/Canada surface can take 8 weeks and there are sometimes customs delays. We can do economy airmail for heavier items to far flung destinations, depending on the continuing availability of the bulk mailbag service.
Please contact us for a firm quote on P&P whatever the destination.
We always obtain proof of posting. If your parcel does not arrive within a reasonable time, let us know and we will make enquiries with the Post Office.
Light items are packed in bubble wrap jiffy bags. Heavier items are wrapped in bubble wrap and packaged in corrugated cardboard using the Novia packing system.
Payment

Please do not send payment until we have confirmed that we still have the book in stock and have given you a firm price including packing and postage. If you are sending a cheque we will put the book on hold for 7 working days to allow the cheque to arrive
Ordering.
We need to know the book title, author and catalogue number (as we have more than one version of some books); your name, full address, e-mail and telephone contact details. Please also let us know how you would like to pay.
Book descriptions.
We make every effort to ensure that book descriptions are correct. If you feel that the book is not as described please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will do our best to resolve the problem.
Descriptions used:-
New or Mint- Describes a new, unread book.
Fine- A book that may have been read but has no faults. Not as crisp as a new book.
Very good- A used book that is in better than average condition for its age. Any faults/inscriptions should be described.
Good- A used book in average condition for age. Any faults/inscriptions should be described.
Fair- A used book in poorer than average condition for age.
Poor – Well used and worn.
Reading copy- still of use for reference, or as a working copy.
Descriptions will be applied to book and dust wrapper (D/W) separately. Sometimes the pages are better than the covers so you may see the “insert” described separately.
Ex library books will usually have library stamps, bar codes and sometimes security tags. Often the front end paper will have been removed, or if not, will have some evidence of the lending record. Some older ex library books have a pocket for the lending ticket inside the front cover. It is common for the D/W to be in a clear protective wrap, and often it is taped to the book. There is usually a library number on the spine. Ex library books are difficult to grade so they will often just be described.
If you have any questions about the condition of a book we can send a scan by e-mail.
