Local Histories

What is where?

The countries are easy. Wales is Wales. But England? Oh, England!

Counties have come and gone (Humberside for one). Regions have come and gone (Wessex?). Tourist Areas exist loosely defined (Black Country). So we gave up and used the latest Government list of Counties and Regions. You may not think Oxfordshire is in the South East, but apparently it is! Information from Wikipedia - the fount of all knowledge!

Reading from the top and clockwise: North East, Yorkshire & The Humber (which steals a bit of Lincolnshire just to confuse you), East Midlands, The East, The South East (London's seperate but we stuffed it into the South East), between them, South West, West Midlands and the North West.
